On August 21, 2026, in Vientiane Capital, the CCM Secretariat organized the CCM Plenary Meeting, honorably chaired by Dr. Phaivan Keopaseuth, Deputy Minister of Health and Chair of the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM).
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairs, CCM members, the Oversight Committee (OC), the Resource Mobilization Committee (RMC), Directors and Deputy Directors of departments, representatives from centers and institutes, as well as representatives from development partners, international organizations, and civil society organizations.
Today’s meeting focused on reviewing and endorsing the following key matters:
• Review and endorsement of the results from the oversight visit for the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria programs in Oudomxay Province, conducted from June 6-12, 2026.
• Review and endorsement of the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) funding request for the HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis programs for the 2027-2029 period.
• Review and endorsement of the roles and responsibilities of the Principal Recipient (Ministry of Health), which have been assigned to the Department of Finance and the Department of Communicable Disease Control to manage on its behalf.
• Acknowledgment of the progress report on the implementation of Global Fund grants for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, and laboratory operations during the previous period, as well as government co-financing.
This meeting marks another significant step in mobilizing and managing financial resources to elevate public health efforts, particularly in enhancing the effectiveness of controlling and combating major communicable diseases in the Lao PDR.
